In Search of Carroll’s Idol Contest

The Vision

In Search of Carroll’s Idol is an event created to showcase and promote the immense singing talent in our county, support our many businesses, and is a fundraising effort for the Community Foundation of Carroll County, Inc. Our format is much like American Idol, however, judging will be kinder and gentler than what you’ve seen on TV.

Eileen Gist, co-owner of Dutterer’s Florists, winner of the 2007, Business Carroll County Philanthropist of the Year Award and Audrey Cimino, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Carroll County, Inc., are combining their efforts with other members within our community to present this wonderful event.

The Contest

Carroll County residents 16 years of age and older are invited to register. Registrants must submit the completed registration form (*see menu at top), the $25.00 registration fee (non-refundable), and a CD containing 2 (two) family-friendly songs that are no longer than 3.5 minutes each. (Registration CD must be labeled with contestants name, song title, and original artists. The CD will NOT be returned.)

Registrants are welcome to come to the Make Your CD Nights where an extensive library of musical accompaniment will be available to choose from to record your registration CD. You are also welcome to bring your own musical accompaniment to record your CD.

CFCC is closed Saturday and Sunday.

Once we have received your completed registration form, your $25.00 registration fee, and you’re vocal CD only then will a team of judges listen to your CD to determine your future participation.

Live Auditions

Contestants who are invited to a “Live Audition” will receive a packet of information which will include a letter confirming the date and time of their scheduled audition, and all required documents pertaining to the competition. Please don’t risk disqualification, review and sign all included documents (contestants under 18 years of age will require parent/guardian signatures) and have them ready to hand the night of your live audition.

We encourage support from your family and friends, but our space is limited. We are only allowing 1 guest to attend the live audition with you. If you are under 18 years of age, your guest MUST be a parent or guardian.

Upon arrival to your live audition, you will go through a check-in process to ensure documentation has been executed properly and for your age (parent/guardian permission verified, if needed), and county residency to be verified. Once you have completed your check-in process you will be called 1 at a time, in order of arrival, to perform your live audition in front of a team of judges. Carroll’s Idol judges are community members with a history in, and extensive knowledge of, music and performing. All Judges Decisions are final.

At completion of the last Live Audition (Thursday, March 4, 2010) approx. 9:30pm we will announce the Top 20 contestants that will progress to the Semi Finals. If you are unable to attend you will be notified by phone.

Semi-Finalist Audition

The semi finals will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Westminster VFW Post #467.

Each contestant will perform a song (only 1 song from a contestant’s registration CD can be used at any point in the competition) that will be judged by the same team of judges. At the completion of the evening the Top 10 Finalists will be announced. It is these contestants who will continue their journey to become Carroll’s Idol 2010. The Top 10 Finalists will all receive a make-over prior to the finale.

All Carroll’s Idol 20 semi finalists will be performing at the Month of Sundays in July.

Finals

The Carroll’s Idol 2010 Finale will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 in Grace Hall at Grace Lutheran Church.

The Top 10 finalists will perform for the same judges; the Top 5 will be announced and asked to perform again. At the end of the evening 1 finalist will be crowned Carroll’s Idol 2010 and will these fantastic prizes:

Proceeds from this event will go to support the philanthropic efforts of The Community Foundation of Carroll County, Inc. (a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization) so they may continue to offer grants, scholarships, and through the various funds they maintain, continue to reach out and make a difference in the lives of our County’s most vulnerable.
